Job description

Position Summary: Automation Technician II will support automation installation, setup, repair, and maintenance in a fast-paced injection molding environment. The role requires understanding the operation, repair, and maintenance of robotics, secondary automated operations, and support equipment.

Functions:

  1. Install: Install new or existing automation equipment, ensuring it meets requirements set by engineering and operations. Use equipment such as leveling tools for large installations, following instructions from senior automation personnel.
  2. Setup: Set up and change over automation in cells or standalone units, understanding robotics, automation cells, and changeover procedures across multiple product lines.
  3. Repair and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair issues with advanced electrical and electronic knowledge. Use multimeters, electrical testing devices, and thermal testing equipment. Understand PLC inputs, outputs, and logic, with a basic grasp of vision systems. Seek assistance from Technician III when necessary.
  4. Fabrication: Fabricate guards and chutes from Lexan using hand tools, saws, milling machines, lathes, and grinders. Understand mechanical repairs, vibratory action, and proper setup of vibratory bowls.
  5. Maintenance and Housekeeping: Perform planned maintenance, document activities properly, maintain a safe and clean work environment, and perform general housekeeping tasks. Lift up to 50 pounds, work overtime as needed, and perform additional duties as assigned.
