Job summary

InterChange Group, Inc. in Harrisonburg, VA is seeking an Automation Support Technician to maintain and monitor its automated warehouse systems, including Geek+ AMRs and Mujin robotics. You will handle first-level troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and daily operational execution.

Join the Operations team and collaborate with IT and vendor partners to keep equipment online, assist in deployments, and support uptime and throughput while following safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Monitor workflow execution through WES and RMS systems.
• Identify disruptions affecting automation performance and investigate.
• Escalate software or integration issues to the Automation Systems Technician.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on robots and equipment.
• Document system events, downtime, and corrective actions.
• Assist in training operators and promote safe automation practices.

Overview: The Automation Support Technician assists in maintaining the reliable operation of the facility's automated warehouse systems, including Geek+ AMRs, Mujin robotics, conveyor systems, and related automation infrastructure. This position supports daily monitoring, first-level troubleshooting, preventive maintenance activities, and operational execution to ensure automation systems remain available and productive.

Working closely with the Automation Systems Technician, Operations, IT, and vendor partners, this role helps identify issues, execute recovery procedures, perform inspections, and maintain system readiness while developing deeper technical expertise.

Compensation: $23.25- $25.00

Key Responsibilities- Automation System Monitoring & Support

• Monitor automation system health and respond to alerts, alarms, and equipment faults.
• Perform first-response troubleshooting of Geek+ robots, Mujin stations, and supporting automation equipment.
• Execute established recovery procedures and escalated unresolved issues.
• Assist in maintaining automation uptime during assigned shifts.
• Support robot deployment, charging station management, and traffic flow monitoring.

Operational System Support

• Assist with monitoring workflow execution through WES and RMS systems.
• Identify operational disruptions impacting automation performance.
• Verify task completion and investigate workflow exceptions.
• Escalate software, configuration, or integration issues to the Automation Systems Technician.

Preventive Maintenance & Equipment Care

• Perform routine inspections of robots, workstations, sensors, infrastructure, and charging equipment.
• Complete preventive maintenance tasks according to established schedules.
• Replace wear items and perform basic repairs.
• Maintain organized spare parts inventories and maintenance records.
• lift 50lbs periodically

Issue Documentation & Reporting

• Document system events, downtime incidents, corrective actions, and recurring issues.
• Capture operational trends and communicate observations to leadership.
• Assist with root cause investigations.
• Support KPI tracking for uptime, throughput, and system utilization.

Operational Support & Training

• Provide floor-level support to Operations during automation interruptions or process changes.
• Assist in training operators on proper interaction with automation systems.
• Promote adherence to automation safety practices and operating procedures.
• Support testing activities during software updates and process improvements.

Qualifications

Required

• Technical certifications or trade school education.
