Job summary

Adecco Search is partnering with a manufacturing organization in Northwest Alabama on an Automation Supervisor opening. This role leads a team of controls engineers and automation technicians, combining technical leadership with people management in a plant setting.

You will drive automation strategy, troubleshoot complex controls issues, support line expansions, and collaborate with maintenance and operations to improve uptime and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in industrial controls, automation, or manufacturing environments.
  • 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong PLC, automation, and controls troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with robotics, HMIs, SCADA, drives, and related technologies.
  • Technical training or degree in controls, automation, robotics, electrical, or mechanical fields preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of controls engineers and automation technicians.
  • Plan, prioritize, and assign projects to support production needs.
  • Oversee automation work tied to PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, robotics, drives, and networks.
  • Support equipment launches, line expansions, and capital projects.
  • Troubleshoot complex automation issues to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, operations, quality, and engineering to improve reliability.
  • Drive continuous improvement through optimization and corrective actions.
  • Manage project schedules, documentation, and vendor relationships.

Job description

Adecco Search is partnering with a manufacturing organization in Northwest Alabama on an Automation Supervisor opening. This is a strong opportunity for someone who brings deep controls / automation experience and is ready to step into a leadership role overseeing a team of engineers and technicians in a plant environment.

We’re looking for someone who can lead from both a technical and people leadership standpoint — someone comfortable supporting automation strategy, troubleshooting complex controls issues, driving equipment reliability, and helping improve overall manufacturing performance.

What you’ll be doing
  • Lead and develop a team of controls engineers and automation technicians
  • Plan, prioritize, and assign projects and daily work to support production needs
  • Oversee automation and controls work tied to PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, robotics, drives, motion control, and industrial networks
  • Support new equipment launches, line expansions, and capital improvement projects
  • Troubleshoot complex automation and control issues to minimize downtime
  • Partner closely with maintenance, operations, quality, and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and plant performance
  • Help drive continuous improvement through optimization of existing programs, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
  • Manage project schedules, documentation, and relationships with vendors, integrators, and equipment suppliers

  • 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong experience with PLCs, industrial automation systems, and controls troubleshooting
  • Experience supporting robotics, HMIs, SCADA, drives, and related manufacturing technologies
  • Ability to lead people, prioritize work, and operate effectively in a fast-paced production environment
  • Technical training or degree in controls, automation, robotics, electrical, mechanical, or a related field preferred
