Job summary

McNaughton-McKay Electric Co. seeks an Automation Specialist- PLC and Automation Controls to join the Engineering team in Greenville, SC. You will support sales and vendors in developing marketing activities and strategies for assigned technologies while ensuring product availability and ESG compliance.

The role covers pre-sale, post-sale, and service responsibilities, including training staff, developing marketing plans, and maintaining vendor relationships. Some overnight travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering required.
• 3+ years of controls engineering experience required; 5+ years of professional engineering experience will be considered in lieu of meeting the educational requirement.
• Product knowledge of assigned technology products.
• Thorough knowledge of strategic customer applications.
• Proven analytical, organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Pre-Sale: technical resource for sales support of assigned technologies.
• Develops relationships with Sales and the decision-makers within the identified strategic accounts.
• Monitors the technology trends evaluated and implemented at the identified strategic accounts.
• Develops a marketing strategy with Sales to promote the sales of assigned technologies at strategic accounts.
• Continuously documents activities with the identified strategic accounts.
• Utilizes relationships and documented activities to leverage value-add at the identified strategic accounts.
• Establishes relationships with vendors of assigned technologies as the technical liaison for sales and support.
• Participates in the development of contracts and agreements with vendors of assigned technologies.
• Manages appropriate inventory product mix and levels for assigned technologies.
• Post-Sale: Manages the availability and ESG requirements for the assigned technology products.
• Trains the inside and technical support personnel on the assigned technology products.
• Educates the sales staff on the assigned technology products.
• Develops and maintains the information and support infrastructure required for the assigned technology products.
• Service: Qualifies the level of assistance provided to customers with product and integration issues.
• Creates the required service procedures to support the assigned technology products.
• Develops the vendor service/support strategies for the assigned technology products.
