Job summary

McNaughton-McKay Electric Co. in Greenville, SC is seeking an Automation Specialist- PLC and Automation Controls to join the Engineering department.

You will work as a technical resource supporting sales and coordinating with vendors to drive technology initiatives and customer success. The role covers pre-sale and post-sale activities, developing marketing strategies with Sales, training staff, and ensuring availability of technology products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering required.
• 3+ years of controls engineering experience required; 5+ years of professional experience may be considered in lieu.
• Product knowledge of assigned technology products.
• Thorough knowledge of strategic customer applications.
• Proven analytical, organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide sales support for assigned technologies.
• Develop relationships with Sales and the decision-makers within identified strategic accounts.
• Monitor technology trends evaluated and implemented at strategic accounts.
• Develop a marketing strategy with Sales to promote the sales of assigned technologies at strategic accounts.
• Continuously document activities with the identified strategic accounts.
• Establish relationships with vendors of assigned technologies as the technical liaison for sales and support.
• Participate in the development of contracts and agreements with vendors of assigned technologies.
• Manage appropriate inventory product mix and levels for assigned technologies.
• Train the inside and technical support personnel on the assigned technology products.
• Educate the sales staff on the assigned technology products.
• Develops and maintains the information and support infrastructure required for the assigned technology products.
• Qualifies the level of assistance provided to customers with product and integration issues.
• Creates the required service procedures to support the assigned technology products.
• Develops the vendor service/support strategies for the assigned technology products.

General Summary:

To be one of the automation specialists within McNaughton-McKay to work with Sales and vendors in the development of marketing activities and support strategies for assigned technologies.

Pre-Sale Responsibilities:

• A technical resource within McNaughton-McKay responsible for the sales support of assigned technologies.
• Develops relationships with Sales and the decision-makers within the identified strategic accounts.

Post-Sale Responsibilities:

• Manages the availability and the identified strategic account requirements for the assigned technology products.
• Manages the availability and the ESG requirements for the assigned technology products.
• Trains the inside and technical support personnel on the assigned technology products.
• Educates the sales staff on the assigned technology products.
• Develops and maintains the information and support infrastructure required for the assigned technology products.

Service Responsibilities:

• Qualifies the level of assistance provided to customers with product and integration issues.
• Creates the required service procedures to support the assigned technology products.
• Develops the vendor service/support strategies for the assigned technology products.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering required.
• 3+ years of controls engineering experience required; 5+ years of professional engineering experience will be considered in lieu of meeting the educational requirement.
• Product knowledge of assigned technology products.
• Thorough knowledge of strategic customer applications.
• Proven analytical, organizational and communication skills.

Working Conditions: Normal office environment with some overnight travel required.
