Eli Lilly and Company seeks an Automation Software Engineer (R2‑R3) to build and develop automation applications and reusable software components using modern programming languages. Design, implement, and manage RESTful and gRPC APIs along with integration connectors for enterprise systems. Architect end‑to‑end automation solutions to define system boundaries, integration strategies, and deployment models. Maintain and enhance automation applications and solutions through structured debugging, root cause analysis, system telemetry, and performance optimization to ensure operational efficiency and reliability.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related STEM field.
  • At least 2 years of academic or employment experience in full‑stack or backend software engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience using programming languages including Python, JavaScript, Go, C++, and Rust.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience developing and managing RESTful and gRPC APIs using frameworks such as FastAPI and Express.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with relational databases and NoSQL databases.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with cloud platforms and development strategies across serverless, containerized, and server‑based environments.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with automated testing frameworks, debugging tools, and performance monitoring solutions.
  • Part‑time telecommuting may be permitted.
  • Up to 10% domestic and international travel required.

Compensation and Benefits

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is $95,202.00 – $109,482.30 per year. Full‑time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
