Job summary

Amcor is seeking a hands-on Maintenance/Automation apprentice-to-be to remove, install and set up automation equipment for mold changes. You will inspect equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and assist with daily department operations under the automation leadership team in a fast-paced packaging environment.

You will maintain and clean equipment, support safety procedures, and contribute to part containment and overall equipment reliability as part of a growing team.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Willingness to enter apprenticeship as openings develop.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks.
  • Able to operate basic hand tools and forklifts safely.

Responsibilities

  • Remove, install, and set up automation equipment for mold changes.
  • Inspect equipment for proper operation prior to startup and perform maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain tape machines, chutes, and related equipment; assist with daily operations.
  • Adhere to safety, environmental, and health requirements; participate in preventive maintenance.

Job description

Job Description Remove, install, and set up automation equipment for mold changes. Check equipment for proper operation prior to production startup. Clean equipment prior to mold changes. Maintain tape machines and banding equipment for molding. Maintain chutes and tie bar covers. Maintain cleanliness of equipment storage areas and functionality of tools in work area. Assist with daily department operation/projects as assigned by automation leadership team. Maintain and enforce all company safety, environmental and department of health requirements. Daily inspection of automation equipment in production for part containment. If necessary, improve part containment. Assist with preventive maintenance tasks.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma / GED equivalent
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Willingness to enter the apprenticeship program as openings develop
  • Able to use basic tools
  • (screw drivers, allen wrenches, sockets, combination wrenches, hammer, etc.)
  • Ability to push/pull loads as part of a team
  • Able to work independently and with others
  • Dependable and motivated
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift in high traffic, low clearance areas while not posing a safety risk to others
  • Able to climb ladders safely
  • Able to work overhead or in awkward positions on a frequent basis
  • Ability to work safely on elevated surfaces
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds; 20 pounds over shoulder height
  • Able to stand/walk for long periods of time
  • Hearing sufficient to recognize and respond to verbal warnings, alarms, and horns on forklifts
  • Verbal communication adequate to use a radio and or paging system to contact other co‑workers in the other areas of the complex
  • Flexibility to stay over or come in early to meet department objectives
