Job summary

Cooper Standard Automotive is seeking an engineering professional to design, procure, maintain and troubleshoot equipment and tooling used to produce our products. You will support plant operations, set manufacturing standards, and travel may be required to collaborate with vendors and customers.

You will sign off on design for manufacturability and drive cost-effective solutions across extrusion tooling and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Four-year technical degree is required or 4+ years in production roll forming.
• Experience with physics, mathematics and material science.
• Training with equipment and tooling used in production (Notchers, Roll Forming, Benders, Plastic, Extruders, TPV molding).

Responsibilities

• Interface with design teams or customers to specify extrusion design for manufacturability.
• Sign off on product design as it relates to manufacturability.
• Procure equipment/tooling and manage vendor quotes.
• Act as key interface between plant and tool vendors.
• Procure equipment, track vendor timing and approve installations.
• Assist in equipment layout preparation and verify proper installation.
• Train supervisors and operators on new equipment/processes.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues during launch Ramp-up and life of program.
• Lead continuous improvement projects refining processes and design.
• Support new Launch products with development of processes to improve capability, output, safety and reliability.
