Job summary

Quest Diagnostics is seeking an Automation Operator Representative in Wood Dale, IL for a Tuesday–Saturday shift from 12:30 AM to 9:00 AM. This role operates front-end automation instruments (sorters and aliquoters) and supports specimen flow within the Technical Operations department.

You will coordinate with vendors, collaborate with Specimen Management, Technical and Biomedical Engineering, and ensure thorough documentation and compliance training.

Qualifications

• Operates automated sorting and aliquoting instruments daily.
• Coordinates with vendors to identify and resolve issues.
• Collaborates with Specimen Management, Technical and Biomedical Engineering.
• Maintains and documents hardware and software changes.
• Completes required Compliance Training for Technical Operations.
• Tracks metrics and uses control charts for productivity and defects.

Responsibilities

• Daily operation of front-end automation instruments for all workcycles.
• Supports general specimen flow and delivery to Technical Operations.
• Coordinates communication with BU vendor to resolve problems.
• Works with Specimen Management, Technical and Biomedical Engineering teams.
• Communicates effectively up and down the specimen flow.
• Ensures maintenance and software changes are documented.
• Completes Compliance Training within Technical Operations.
• Coordinates QA and CAP requirements for Technical Operations.
• Knows and understands all functions of the department.
• May participate in special projects.
• Tracks and reports productivity and defects using control charts.

Automation Operator Representative - Wood Dale, IL, Tuesday to Saturday, 12:30 AM to 9:00 AM

Pay range: $22.25 - $33.37 / hour; employee may be eligible to receive shift differential of 10% for some or all hours worked on second shift and 15% for some or all hours worked on third shift. Additional details on shift differential will be provided if an offer is extended.

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Automation Specialist coordinates implementation and operations issues for automated sorting and aliquoting instruments within the Technical Operation department, which may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Daily operation of front-end automation instruments [sorters and aliquoters] for all workcycles.
• Supports general specimen flow and delivery to Technical Departments and Manual Technical Operations
• Coordinates communication for the BU with the vendor to identify, document and resolve problems and issues.
• Work in partnership with Specimen Management, Technical, and Biomedical Engineering
• Effectively communicate up and down stream of the specimen flow
• Ensure that all maintenance, hardware and software changes are documented as required
• Complete all Compliance Training for their position within Technical Operations.
• Coordinate National Quality Assurance and College of American Pathologists requirements for Technical Operations [Manual and Automated].
• Know and Understand all Functions of the Department
• May be actively involved in special projects
• Track and report metrics required for monitoring productivity, defects and maintenance including control charts where applicable.
