Job summary

Koops Automation Systems in Michigan is seeking a Mechanical Engineer who designs custom automation equipment from concept to completion. You will use 3D CAD to create robust machines and collaborate with customers and internal teams to balance performance, cost, and schedule.

You will work on robotics, pneumatics, and hydraulics; validate designs with testing; own solutions end-to-end, and contribute to a culture of ESOP-driven growth and cutting-edge automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years designing automation equipment.
• Experience with 3D CAD software.
• Experience designing systems involving robotics, pneumatics, hydraulics or other mechanical systems.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design custom automation equipment using 3D CAD software.
• Develop mechanical systems incorporating robotics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and other components.
• Analyze equipment requirements and develop solutions that meet customer needs.
• Collaborate with internal team and customers to optimize machine designs.
• Develop and conduct testing to validate equipment performance and functionality.
• Adapt designs based on customer and project requirements; troubleshoot design and equipment challenges.
• Take ownership of designs from initial concept through project completion.
