Job summary

Becton, Dickinson and Company in Montgomery, AL is seeking a Maintenance Technician to inspect, diagnose, and repair inoperative production equipment. You will dismantle machines, replace parts, and adjust systems to ensure optimal performance across production lines.

Responsibilities include reading electrical schematics, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical faults, coordinating with the machine shop, performing preventative maintenance, and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent; related A.S./A.A. degree, trade school, or equivalent experience.
• Two or more years repairing industrial equipment and machinery or packaging machinery.
• Must read blueprints or verbal instructions.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Examine inoperative or malfunctioning production equipment and machinery in assigned areas and diagnose source of trouble (mechanical or electrical).
• Dismantle machinery and perform routine and non‑routine repairs. Replace broken or defective parts, reassemble machines and adjust equipment for optimal performance.
• Coordinate the manufacture of replacement items with the Machine Shop.
• Correct electrical problems as needed to facilitate a repair.
• May be required to make simple replacement parts for emergency repair of inoperative production equipment to avoid costly downtime.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks as needed to maintain production equipment. Complete all required maintenance records for each machine.
• Responsible for all production product lines and provide back‑up support on an “as‑needed” basis.
• Mentor junior maintenance personnel and support the production team as required.
• Must be able to work alone or in a group environment on repairs as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

• Able to read and interpret electrical schematics.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and replace sensor blocks, valve manifolds, circuit breakers, and fuses.
• Maintain validated state of station.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical malfunctions in all sensor types used in production.
• Dismantle machinery and perform routine and non‑routine repairs.
• Replace broken or defective parts, reassemble machines and adjust equipment.
• Navigate Factory Talk Asset Center (FTAC).
• Capable of using a digital multimeter, oscilloscope, amp probe and appropriate electrical test equipment.
• Correct electrical problems using own initiative and judgment.

Minimum Education

High school diploma, related A.S. / A.A. degree, Trade School, or equivalent experience.

Minimum Experience

• Two or more years of experience in repairing industrial equipment and machinery or packaging machinery.
• Must show a working knowledge of electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems as applicable.
• Must be able to work with blueprints, or verbal instructions.

Shift Schedule

(6pm–6am) Rotating shift
