We are seeking Automation Machine Tool Electricians for The Large Power Systems Division in Lafayette, IN. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and repairing complex domestic and foreign machine tools and related equipment. Applicants must be able to troubleshoot and repair CNC, PLC, and relay logic-controlled machines.

Job duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Repairing equipment such as Okuma, G&L, Mazak, Lamb, Landis (grinders), Waldrich Coburg, Ingersoll, Toyoda, DMG Mori, and other large industrial machine shop equipment.
  • Repairing related equipment like P&H cranes and hoists, conveyors, furnaces, large part washers, ABB robots, CNC machine tools, and other machinery.
  • Repairing machine controllers including CNC and PLC equipment from Fanuc, Siemens, Allen Bradley, Modicon, Indramat, and others.
  • Handling AC / DC analog and digital drives from Siemens, Allen Bradley, Modicon, Indramat, and others.
  • Working with measurement and feedback systems like Heidenhain, inductosyn, and other feedback devices.
  • Possessing basic mechanical skills and the ability to operate basic tools.
  • Being a team-oriented individual with a positive attitude, good work ethic, personal initiative, and self-motivation.
  • Willingness to work overtime to support production demands.

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience in electrical repair of machine tools and related equipment, including:
  • Experience with equipment such as Okuma, G&L, Mazak, Lamb, Landis grinders, Waldrich Coburg, Ingersoll, Toyoda, and others.
  • Experience with P&H cranes and hoists, conveyors, furnaces, washers, ABB robots.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing relay log machines and CNC / PLC controlled machines, with controllers from Fanuc, Siemens, Allen Bradley, Modicon, Indramat, and others.
  • Experience with AC / DC analog and digital drives from Siemens, Allen Bradley, Modicon, Indramat, and others.
  • Ability to read and interpret machine tool prints and schematics at an intermediate or higher proficiency.
  • Basic mechanical skills and ability to operate basic tools.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and in a team.

Note: Selected candidates must pass a color blindness test and be able to work at heights and in confined spaces.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Industrial Automation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, medium to heavy-duty technical environment.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, turning, climbing, and standing on concrete for 8+ hours.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds and perform repetitive hand movements with tooling.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
