Job summary

Amcor is seeking an Automation Setup Technician in Evansville, IN to set up automated equipment following mold changes. You will lead the automation setup team, tune equipment, and train new hires, ensuring smooth startups and safe operation across the packaging operations.

The role requires hands-on support with maintenance, safety compliance, and collaboration with production to meet daily objectives. Amcor offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities for progression.

Qualifications

• Able to use basic tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Set up automated equipment after mold changes and tune equipment.
• Lead the automation setup team as the first layer of leadership.
• Assist with training of new employees in automation setup.
• Inspect equipment for proper operation before production startup.
• Maintain and service tape, banding, chutes and related molding equipment.
• Ensure safety, environmental, and health requirements are followed.

Job Description Purpose

The purpose of the Automation Setup Technician is to set up automated equipment following mold changes.

Responsibilities

• First layer of leadership in automation set up team.
• Tune in all automation equipment after mold changes.
• Key member of automation set up training for new employees.
• Remove, install, and set up automation equipment for mold changes.
• Check equipment for proper operation prior to production startup.
• Clean equipment prior to mold changes.
• Maintain tape machines and banding equipment for molding.
• Maintain chutes and tie bar covers.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment storage areas and functionality of tools in work area.
• Assist with daily department operation/projects as assigned by automation leadership team.
• Maintain and enforce all company safety, environmental and department of health requirements.
• Daily inspection of automation equipment in production for part containment.
• If necessary, improve part containment.
• Assist with preventive maintenance tasks.
• Authorities LOTO certified Arc Flash certified Automation equipment installation JDE work order entry Review molding memos to ensure automation equipment is set up and available for upcoming mold changes.

Qualifications

• High School diploma / GED equivalent.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Willingness to enter the apprenticeship program as openings develop.
• Able to use basic tools. (screw drivers, allen wrenches, sockets, combination wrenches, hammer, etc.)
• Ability to push/pull loads as part of a team.
• Able to work independently and with others.
• Dependable and motivated
• Ability to safely operate a forklift in high traffic, low clearance areas while not posing a safety risk to others.
• Able to climb ladders safely.
• Able to work overhead or in awkward positions on a frequent basis.
• Ability to work safely on elevated surfaces.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds; 20 pounds over shoulder height.
• Able to stand/walk for long periods of time.
• Hearing sufficient to recognize and respond to verbal warnings, alarms, and horns on forklifts.
• Verbal communication adequate to use a radio and or paging system to contact other co-workers in the other areas of the complex.
• Flexibility to stay over or come in early to meet department objectives.
