Job summary

Bloomberg is seeking a Triage Operations Engineer to join a collaborative team that supports 24x7x365 coverage of the client’s technology environment. You will work with Engineering, SRE, and Incident Management to improve reliability, automate processes, and evolve operational procedures across Bloomberg’s platforms.

Responsibilities include incident investigation, documenting procedures, and driving long-term improvements with cross-functional partners.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in computer operations, production support, systems administration, SRE, or related field.
• Experience with Unix/Linux environments (RHEL, Ubuntu or similar).
• Understanding of datacenter infrastructure and distributed systems.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with AI productivity/agentic tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot).
• Experience with orchestration/configuration tools (Salt/Ansible, Salt preferred).
• Strong written and verbal communication and customer-service skills.
• Knowledge of Jira and SDLC concepts.
• Experience with day-to-day systems administration tasks and scripting (Shell, Python).
• Experience with observability and metrics tools (Grafana, Humio, LogScale).
• Familiarity with development tools (GitHub, Artifactory, Chef, Ruby).
• Interest in using automation/AI to reduce toil and improve incident response.

Responsibilities

• Improve operational efficiency through automation, standardization, and process improvement.
• Drive incidents to resolution using logs, metrics, dashboards, and telemetry.
• Proactively investigate issues and perform troubleshooting across platforms.
• Collaborate across teams while working in a fast-paced environment.
• Develop, maintain, and improve runbooks and technical documentation.
• Identify recurring issues and coordinate long-term engineering improvements.
• Stay current with new technologies and automation strategies.
• Learn and adopt new workflows as the triage operations role evolves.
• Communicate incident findings and status clearly to partner teams.
