Hoffer Plastics Corporation in Illinois is seeking an Automation Helper to support the automation team. You will get hands-on exposure to design, develop and maintain automation equipment on the shop floor.

This entry-level role offers full training, competitive starting pay, shift premiums for nights, and broad benefits. You will learn to read schematics, assist vendors, and help with preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor's degree or a related two-year technical degree.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical/PLC systems and robotics.
• Machining background with mill/lathe experience preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and diagrams.
• Strong CAD skills (SolidWorks/ProE) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with automation design, development and maintenance.
• Support the automation dept with vendor communications.
• Observe and learn operation of automation machinery.
• Organize tasks with attention to detail and priorities.
• Perform preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas and follow safety rules.
• Participate in cross-functional duties as required.

Starting Pay $20.00 - $25.00 (based on experience)

Be introduced to the design, develop and implementation of Automation solutions. Learn the process of programming, repairing and maintaining all automated machinery and auxiliary equipment as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• All machinery located at the press or in the Assembly department used in second operations
• Assist the Automation department with running errands to vendors / repair shops etc. Must be able to effectively communicate to outside vendors.
• Observe, assist and learn the basic operation of automation machinery.
• The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities with attention to detail
• Preform preventive maintenance on all assigned equipment
• Maintain work area in neat and orderly manner. General housekeeping duties as assigned.
• Observe safety rules and wearing of prescribed protective clothing or items.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Working in a clean manufacturing environment that may include moderate noise levels and will require spending a significant amount of time moving around on the manufacturing floor.
• Ability to stand and/or walk up to constantly during the shift.
• Lifting up to fifty-five pounds (55).
• Bending, stooping, twisting, balancing, kneeling and crouching is involved in the regular execution of duties.
• Ability to push and pull items.
• Ability to ascend/descend, work atop and traverse molding machines, assembly equipment, ladders and aerial lift equipment,
• Ability to work occasionally in small cramped spaces.
• Must wear appropriate PPE including fire retardant apparel.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Pursuing Bachelor's Degree in a related field or a 2-year technical degree
• Experience troubleshooting and improving Electrical Control, Vision System, PLC Systems, Robotics and continuous motion systems strongly preferred.
• Machining background in Mill and Lathe preferred
• Mechanical comprehension preferred blueprints
• Ability to read and interpret prints and diagrams preferred
• Strong general computer skills including CAD (Solidworks and/or ProE) preferred
