Job summary

Siemens Digital Industries Automation is seeking rising and recent graduates for the Automation Genesis program – Discrete Engineering Track. The first six months will be in Mason, OH, with subsequent placement at DI Automation hubs or customer regions, including Alpharetta, GA, and other U.S.

locations. The program prepares you for Application or Controls engineering roles through intensive onboarding and hands-on projects.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of mechanics, control theory, signals/networking, and automation techs.

• Willing to relocate: Mason, OH initially, then various DI Automation hubs.
• Travel 5–50% depending on projects.

• Master internal enablement tools and simulation platforms.
• Advise customers and drive digital transformation with IIoT, additive manufacturing, digital drive train, and robotics.

We are looking for rising and recent engineering graduates for our Automation Genesis program – Discrete Engineering Track. The first six months of this position will be based at Mason, OH , with subsequent placement at one of our DI Automation hubs or customer regions, including but not limited to Alpharetta, GA; Elk Grove Village, IL; Chicago, IL; Harleysville, PA; or Detroit, MI based on business needs .

This program, comprised of two phases, is designed to prepare you for impactful engineering roles within Siemens Digital Industries Automation. The journey begins with a 6-month intensive onboarding phase that combines structured training with hands‑on project work to develop your expertise in our Digital Industries Automation portfolio, accelerate your understanding of our business strategy and core processes, enhance your professional skills, and strengthen your application and systems engineering capabilities. Phase 2 is an immersive 12-month, during which you’ll deepen your technical expertise in discrete automation, gain hands‑on experience with designing automation solutions , and refine customer engagement skills. Upon successful completion, you’ll transition to a designated full‑time role as an Application Engineer or Controls Engineer with one of our Technical Consulting teams.

You’ll **make an impact by:**

• Engaging in instructor‑led training, workshops, and engineering projects to build a strong understanding of Siemens and our DI Automation technology portfolio, while mastering the skills to develop and implement automation solutions for customers in discrete industries

• Leveraging your engineering expertise to provide technical consultation and support specialized pre‑sales activities, including scoping customer requirements and contributing to proofs‑of‑concept and technical demonstrations

• Designing, developing, testing, and commissioning automation applications using the latest factory automation, motion control, and industrial networking technologies

• Mastering internal technical enablement tools and simulation platforms

• Consulting with Siemens customers and driving their digital transformation through applications engineering with IIOT, additive manufacturing, digital drive train, and robotics innovations, while reducing time‑to‑market for our customers

Basic Qualifications:

• Eligibility Requirement: This Development Program is designed for individuals beginning their professional careers. Candidates must have completed, or will complete, the required educational credentials prior to the program start date. This program is intended for candidates at an early career stage. Current students seeking an experiential learning opportunity while continuing their studies should consider our internship and co‑op programs.

• Available to start full‑time employment on June 7, 2027

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Engineering Technology, or Computer Science

• Strong programming proficiency in any language or environment: IEC 61131‑3 (Ladder Logic), C#, Python, C/C++, Java, iOS/Android/web development

• Strong foundational knowledge of mechanical statics/dynamics, control theory, signals/networking, and/or industrial automation technologies (such as PLCs, CNCs, motors, sensors, drives, Industrial IoT, ethernet networking)

• Excellent written and verbal communication, and active listening skills, with the ability to scope customer needs, define technical requirements, partner effectively with cross‑functional teams, and foster trusted customer relationships

• Demonstrated resilience and ability to troubleshoot complex challenges using a solution‑oriented, systems‑level approach

• Must be willing and able to commit to the required relocations: first to Mason, OH for 6 months, followed by assignment to one of our DI Automation hubs or customer regions including (but not limited to) Alpharetta, GA; Elk Grove Village, IL; Chicago, IL; Harleysville, PA; and Detroit, MI. Relocation assistance is provided to hires who must relocate more than 50 miles from their permanent address for each required move.

• Travel requirements will be a function of assigned projects and will likely range from periods of light travel (5‑10%) to periods of higher travel (50%).

• Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous internship or project experience in industrial automation, application or controls engineering, or manufacturing environment

• Leadership experience through academic or extracurricular activities
