Job summary

Scotts Miracle-Gro is seeking an Automation Engineering Manager to join the Supply Chain Engineering team. This remote role oversees automation projects across North America with up to 50% travel during peak times and about 35% on average.

The role builds strategy, defines opportunities to improve production, quality and safety, and leads implementation of advanced automation. It will collaborate with IT/OT, vendors, and sites nationwide.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field is preferred; relevant experience may substitute.
Strong automation concepts in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with PLC, HMI, SCADA systems and industrial networking protocols.
Experience leading automation projects and building business cases from data.
Ability to manage contractors, vendors and internal resources.

Responsibilities

Walk the manufacturing floor to identify automation opportunities and build a business case with data on production, demand, capacity and costs.
Develop and communicate the automation strategy and roadmaps across the organization.
Lead multiple automation projects and set goals for delivery within a wider roadmap.
Collaborate with OT/IT teams, operations, EHS and leadership to drive ROI and safety improvements.
Manage contractors, vendors and internal resources to ensure high-quality delivery.
Develop automation standards and partner with site teams to implement solutions.
