Job summary

Textron seeks an Automation Engineering intern in San Antonio, TX to gain hands-on experience in automation, robotics, and data-driven manufacturing within a global automotive supplier context.

You will support the NA Automation Team, assist commissioning and troubleshooting, work on PLC-based solutions, cobot applications, and use IoT analytics to improve production insights. This internship emphasizes safety, learning, and applying AI-enabled tools responsibly.

Qualifications

• Technical education (Degree in Engineering or comparable) required.
• Interest in robotics and automation components such as vision systems and cobots.
• Experience with PLCs and data analytics is a plus.
• Knowledge of manufacturing techniques (5S, Kanban, visual management) is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support the regional NA Automation Team in their various tasks regarding automation.
• Assist commissioning or troubleshooting activities of equipment.
• Inspect production issues and develop PLC-based solutions.
• Participate in developing and implementing cobot applications to replace manual repetitive work.
• Use data acquisition to provide production insights using an IoT platform and analytics tools.
• Analyze production issues and implement PLC-driven fixes.
