Job summary

Kautex seeks a 2027 Automation Engineering Intern for the San Antonio, TX site to support the regional NA Automation Team. You will assist in commissioning, troubleshooting, and implementing cobot solutions, while analyzing production data via an IoT platform to improve efficiency.

The role focuses on robotics, PLC-based improvements, and applying 5S/kanban practices in a manufacturing setting. On-site opportunity with hands-on exposure to advanced automation.

Qualifications

• Technical education in Engineering or comparable field is required.
• Strong interest in robotics, automation and mechatronics.

Responsibilities

• Support the NA Automation Team with various automation tasks.
• Assist commissioning or troubleshooting of equipment.
• Inspect production issues and develop PLC-based solutions.
• Contribute to cobot applications to replace manual repetitive work.
• Use data acquisition on production lines via an IoT platform and analytics tools.

What awaits you:

• Support the regional NA Automation Team in their various task regarding automation
• Supporting commissioning or troubleshooting activities of equipment
• Inspection of issues in production and working out solutions based on programmable logic controller
• Be part of a team developing and implementing cobot applications to replace manual, unergonomic repetitive work
• Use data acquisition to provide insights on production lines and equipment using an IOT platform and analytic tools

What you'll need to succeed:

• Technical education (Degree in Engineering or comparable) required
• Strong interest in Vision Systems, Cobots, Programmable logic controllers, Big Data, VR, AR, MR
• Preference for candidates who possess comprehensive knowledge about robotics, automation and/or Mechatronics.
• Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and business systems, e.g.: 5S, standardized work, Kanban, visual management
