Job summary
Akkar in Kentucky is seeking an Automation Engineer to design, implement, and optimise automation systems for automotive manufacturing. You will contribute to best-in-class product delivery, production efficiency, and reduced time to market.
Responsibilities include designing automation solutions, programming PLC/SCADA, and leading projects from concept to validation while ensuring safety compliance and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field).
- 3-5+ years of experience in automation or controls engineering.
- Proficient in PLC programming and control system design.
- Hands-on experience with robotics, SCADA, HMI, and vision systems.
- Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
Responsibilities
- Design and develop automation solutions, including robotics, conveyors, and control systems.
- Program and integrate PLC, SCADA, and vision systems for manufacturing processes.
- Create system layouts, schematics, and process documentation.
- Integrate automation with existing production equipment and data systems.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and improve the performance of automated machinery.
- Lead automation projects from concept through installation and validation.
- Ensure compliance with safety and industry standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma principles.
- Stay current with emerging automation technologies to enhance efficiency and reliability.
