Job summary

NorthStar Medical Radioisotopes in Beloit, WI seeks an Automation Engineer to design, program, validate, and maintain PLC/HMI/DCS automation for radiopharmaceutical manufacturing. You will work with RA/QA and Process Engineering to ensure data integrity and drug quality in a 24-hour facility.

Responsibilities include coordinating with vendors, documenting changes, and supporting MES implementations while maintaining cGMP and safety standards for production and non-production personnel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with Automation/Process Control.
• Knowledge of Siemens automation products preferred.
• Experience in regulated pharmaceutical/medical device manufacturing.
• Company cannot sponsor immigration (I-9 verification) for this position.

Responsibilities

• Design, revise and commission PLC, HMI, and DCS based automation systems with input from cross-functional teams and senior staff.
• Design, code, test, debug programs and systems as needed in support of new designs and current production systems.
• Implement automation changes to existing control system hardware and software, supervising hardware and software modifications by outside vendors, and development of specs and testing docs.
• Create, modify, and maintain automation system documentation in a cGMP state.
• Troubleshoot automation systems and train operations personnel.
• Ensure maintenance and availability of automation system controls and equipment.
• Support validation of automation systems per cGMP and guidance.
• Create electrical schematics and wiring diagrams and present project progress.
• Participate in risk/hazard reviews and modify equipment as needed for safe operation.
