Job summary

Alfa Laval in Buffalo, NY seeks an Automation Engineer to own electrical projects from concept to commissioning. You will develop electrical designs, CAD packages, PLC/HMI programs, and documentation while coordinating with customers and field teams.

Travel to sites is required as projects progress. The role emphasizes hands-on automation expertise, cross-functional collaboration, and delivering reliable solutions that meet customer requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years in Electrical/Automation design and support.
• Experience with Rockwell AB software; Siemens a plus.
• Experience with CAD and PLC/HMI programming preferred.
• Willingness to travel up to 35% for commissioning and support.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical and automation projects from quotation to commissioning.
• Design electrical systems, CAD drawings, PLC/HMI programs, and docs.
• Create operating manuals and performance verification docs.
• Test, validate, commission, and optimize automation systems.
• Collaborate with customers, field teams, suppliers, and internal units.
• Support aftermarket service, startup, and system upgrades.
• Travel to installations and customer sites as needed.
