Job summary

ElevateBio is seeking an Engineer I, Automation to own the site’s automation systems. You will design, program, and troubleshoot automated equipment and control systems under supervision, manage vendor contracts, procure equipment, and work with Quality and Validation teams to ensure readiness for use.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field and at least 2 years in industrial automation, with knowledge of Rockwell/Siemens PLCs, CSV, and enterprise IT integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or related technological field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in industrial or process automation, controls, or system engineering.
• Working knowledge of industrial networks and communication protocols; able to configure PLCs (Rockwell/Siemens).
• Control panel and automation hardware design experience.
• Experience testing, commissioning and validating computer systems (CSV).
• Experience integrating industrial/manufacturing systems with enterprise IT platforms (SSO, RBAC).
• Effective leadership and communication skills (written and oral).
• Willingness to work in an industrial environment including gowning.
• Willingness to be on-call in the future for off-hours support.

Responsibilities

• Support automation projects through full life cycle and ensure validated state after go-live.
• Collaborate with Facilities, Engineering, and Operations on projects.
• Follow design standards for automation platforms (SCADA/Ignition, Rockwell PLCs).
• Provide configuration, development, and day-to-day support of automation systems.
• Manage documentation, author SOPs, and provide system training.
• Support system maintenance and automation lifecycle activities (patching, testing).
• Coordinate with business users to develop reports for operations.
• Assist with new client onboarding and tech transfers of new products.
• Support lab operations and equipment as needed.
