Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking an Automation Engineer to design and deploy substation automation solutions that keep critical infrastructure running smoothly. You’ll work with MicroSCADA and IEC 61850 to build reliable, secure energy systems and collaborate with project teams across the globe.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Automation and at least three years of substation automation experience, plus strong problem solving and communication skills and work

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in substation automation systems.
  • Strong knowledge of IEC 61850 and related communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity standards for automation systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Design and configure substation automation systems using MicroSCADA.
  • Develop communication architectures with IEC 61850, Modbus, and DNP3.
  • Create HMI screens and RTU logic for real-time monitoring and control.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure timely delivery and quality.
  • Support FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities on-site and remotely.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize system performance for maximum reliability.
  • Engage with customers to refine designs and enhance system functionality.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and adoption of new technologies.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
