Job summary

Guerbet in Raleigh, NC seeks an Automation Engineer to design, develop, install and support automated systems for manufacturing operations. Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 3-5 years in related field.
• Experience programming, maintaining and troubleshooting DCS (Foxboro I/A preferred) and PLCs/HMIs (Allen-Bradley preferred).
• Experience in a pharmaceutical or regulated industrial environment.
• Proven track record in design and development of automation, instrumentation and control systems.
• Self-starter with ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Developing, reading and understanding P&IDs and control schematics.
• Industrial communication networks knowledge.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
• Project management at conceptual and detailed levels.

Responsibilities

• Perform programming and troubleshooting for distributed control systems, PLCs, SCADA, and HMIs.
• Develop and review electrical drawings in support of plant processes.
• Manage medium to large automation projects, monitoring scope, schedule, and budget to the project plan.
• Project scheduling using Microsoft Project or similar tools.
• Provide technical support for instrumentation and control equipment.
• Collaborate with project engineers, process engineers and maintenance teams.
• Ensure compliance with cGMPs and manage historical production data.
• Develop Change Requests and CAPAs.
• Deliver status updates to management and internal teams.
• Work as a hands-on technical resource with minimal supervision.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

This position is responsible for the design, development, installation, and support of automated systems and equipment in support of the manufacturing operations within the Raleigh Imaging Site. Additionally, this position will develop and execute plans for optimizing process control and instrumentation systems throughout the plant. The position will help Guerbet continue to achieve excellence as defined by best industry practices. The position will be responsible for establishing optimum work processes and administrative controls and deploying key functions. The position will provide technical support for a wide variety of instrumentation and control equipment. This position actively participates as a team member on assigned plant projects.

This person will work with the Project Engineers, Process Engineers, Process Mechanics, Facilities Mechanics and other Operations personnel to make sure that all equipment is designed and managed for maximum utility and Total Cost of Ownership.

This role is a "hands on" role. This position will work with little or no supervision, applying scientific knowledge, engineering knowledge, mathematics, and ingenuity to complete assignments related to the support of automated systems and equipment in the manufacturing environment and serve as the key technical resource for automated systems focusing on preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and problem resolution for electronic/mechanical equipment issues. This position also plays a key role in continuous improvement and operational excellence.

YOUR ROLE

• Perform programming and troubleshooting for distributed control systems, PLCs, SCADA, and HMIs.
• Perform tasks per Standard Operating Procedures and update as needed.
• Develop and review electrical and other drawings in support of plant processes.
• Communicate ideas and concerns effectively in working with team members.
• Comply with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPS).
• Manage historical production data in accordance with cGMPs.
• Works with internal customers and implementation resources to meet project requirements.
• Manage medium to large sized automation projects, monitoring scope, schedule, and budget to the work to the project plan.
• Project scheduling through use of project management software (Microsoft Project or other).
• Delivers status updates to management, partners and internal resources.
• Prioritize and balance competing project demands and conflicting project requirements.
• Develop Change Request
• Develop Exceptions and CAPAs

YOUR BACKGROUND

• BS in Electrical Engineering; Instrumentation and Control Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Chemical Engineering. (May consider Associates degree in related field with 7-9 years of experience)
• 3-5 years in related field.
• Experience in programming, maintaining and troubleshooting Distributed Control Systems (Foxboro I/A System preferred) and PLCs/HMIs (Allen-Bradley preferred).
• Experience working in a pharmaceutical or regulated industrial environment.
