Job summary

Engineering Resource Group is seeking a Process Automation Engineer to design, program, commission, and support PLC-based control systems for GMP pharmaceutical equipment. The role includes SCADA/HMI development, scripting, database interfacing, and reporting within validated production environments.

You will review process diagrams and instrumentation, participate in on-site commissioning, and assist with customer training and pre-sales activities.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering, Computer Science or Engineering Technology.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in control system design and programming.
• Experience with RSLogix/Studio 5000 and Wonderware or iFIX for SCADA projects.

Responsibilities

• Design and program PLCs for GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment.
• Develop SCADA/HMI applications with scripting, database interfacing and reporting.
• Review P&IDs, control schematics, panel layouts and interconnect drawings.
• Perform on-site commissioning, customer training and validation support.

Job description

• Permanent position for a Process Automation Engineer designing control systems for GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment.
• Develop, test and commission PLC applications from the ground up on Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix platforms, including legacy controller support.
• Build SCADA/HMI applications with scripting, recipe management, security configuration, database interfacing and reporting.
• Configure PC-based SQL databases, data transfer and reporting tools; integrate thin client and virtualized hardware.
• Author functional specifications, sequences of operation, detailed design specifications and user manuals.
• Review and approve P&IDs, control schematics, panel layouts and interconnect drawings.
• Write simulation code and develop/execute software test protocols.
• Specify, procure and troubleshoot field and panel instrumentation; inspect and release vendor-built control panels.
• Perform on-site commissioning, customer training, validation support and field service.
• Provide pre-sales technical support, including bid specification reviews and quotations.
• BS Engineering, Computer Science or Engineering Technology.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in control system design and programming.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Recent experience developing new Allen-Bradley PLC code in RSLogix, including analog handling, data exchange and recipe logic.
• Recent experience developing SCADA applications on Wonderware, iFIX or a comparable platform.
• Experience specifying and troubleshooting control hardware and field/panel-mounted instrumentation.
• Ability to read, interpret and develop control system design documents and drawings.
• Working knowledge of cGMP and its impact on control system development.
• Validation experience a plus.
