• Coordinate automation activities with outside suppliers.
• Generate specifications for new automation machines.
• Approve designs of new automation machines.
• Manage construction time schedules to meet production needs for new automation machines.
• Procure purchase orders for automation projects at suppliers.
• Assist in production start-ups related to automation machines.
• Troubleshoot new and existing automation machines.
• Oversee continual improvement of automation machines in each division.
• Assist other divisions with automation projects as needed.
• Use a handheld propane torch on the production floor.

Job description

Assists with the efficient operation of each manufacturing facility by procuring new automation and ensuring that all automation is operational. This includes assisting with the design, overseeing the installation, and completing the qualification of all new automation. Plastic injection molding experience highly desirable.

Responsibilities

1. Responsible for purchasing and design of automation.
2. Responsible for the generation of cost saving opportunities related to automation and the presentation of this to management on a regular basis.
3. Maintains and improves all existing automation machines in the division.
4. Coordinates automation activities with outside suppliers.
5. Generates specifications for new automation machines.
6. Approves designs of new automation machines.
7. Manages construction time schedules to meet the production schedule needs on new automation machines.
8. Responsible for procurement of purchase orders for automation projects at suppliers.
9. Assists in production start-ups as related to automation machines.
10. Assists with the troubleshooting of new and existing automation machines.
11. Oversees each division’s continual improvement of automation machines.
12. Assists other divisions with various automation projects as needed.
13. Required to use a handheld propane torch on the production floor.
