Job summary

Mauser Packaging Solutions seeks an experienced Automation Engineer to design, test, and optimize robotic and automated systems within manufacturing facilities. The role involves planning, debugging, and integrating control software, ensuring cost-effective solutions that meet safety and quality standards.

You will collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams, perform R&D, and manage project scopes from conception to on-time delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of related experience in automation and systems integration.
  • Experience with hydraulics, robotics, electrical systems, and automation.
  • Experience with stamping, welding, and palletizing is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Visio, Inventor, AutoCAD, and RSLogix 500/5000.
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs, industrial sensors, and pneumatic systems.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develops plans for testing and debugging automation equipment.
  • Programs, troubleshoots, and evaluates design considerations on systems.
  • Designs engineering solutions to meet facility requirements within budgets.
  • Assists in scope preparation, cost justification, and AFE for approval.
  • Manages project cost, quality, scope, and schedule; prepares progress reports.
  • Leads or participates in engineering design reviews.
  • Conducts R&D activities for integration and testing of components and systems.
  • Applies mechanical theory to layout, build, test, repair, and modify equipment.
  • Collaborates with maintenance for preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Programs software to configure automated systems and maintains backups of software.
  • Provides regular status reports to management.
  • Evaluates and coordinates with outside vendors for tooling and systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering

  • Develops plans for testing and debugging automation equipment while applying knowledge of engineering technology as necessary.
  • Programs, troubleshoots, and evaluates any design considerations on new and existing systems and equipment.
  • Designs engineering solutions that meet the manufacturing facilities requirements while monitoring budget constraints to maximize production equipment quality and efficiency.
  • Assists in the preparation of the scope of a project, cost justification and AFE (overall cost proposal) to senior management for approval as required.
  • Maintains awareness of and controls project cost, quality, scope, and schedule to ensure on time delivery of projects within internal budgets. Prepares any necessary progress reports for management.
  • Leads or participates in engineering design reviews as required and requested by Management.
  • Conducts R&D activities concerned with integration and testing of electronic/mechanical components and systems and in the development of applications.
  • Applies mechanical theory, mechanical testing procedures and related knowledge to layout, build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental and production equipment.
  • Works with maintenance department to ensure preventative and predictive maintenance compliance.
  • Programs software to configure and/or make modifications to automated systems and process control systems, which will include maintaining a backup library of robotic, PLC and other instrumentation software.
  • Provides various (daily, weekly, monthly) status reports of progress for various BWAY management members.
  • Evaluates, selects, and coordinates with outside vendors for design, machining and fabrication of tooling and systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or a minimum of 7 years equivalent experience
  • Experience with hydraulics, robotics, electrical systems, automation
  • Experience with stamping, welding, and palletizing a plus
  • Strong MS Office, Visio, Inventor, Auto Cad, RSLogix 500 or 5000
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC, industrial sensors, and pneumatic systems
  • Excellent analytical thinking and innovative problem-solving skills
  • Has the ability to multi-task, and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
