Job summary

Siemens Fort Worth is seeking an Automation Engineer to support the development and maintenance of automation initiatives in a fast-growing manufacturing environment. You will collaborate with the central automation team to research, test, and deploy technologies including AMRs, SCADA, and industrial protocols to drive Industry 4.0 initiatives.

You will work on understanding production equipment, maintaining schematics, and providing AMR support, while building secure, scalable digital solutions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or related field.
  • 1–2 years’ experience in Automation, control devices, PLCs (TIA Portal, WinCC).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing operations and Industry 4.0 technologies.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Understand AMR integration points within the factory.
  • Collaborate with central automation team to research, experiment, and implement new technologies.
  • Understand production equipment and their schematics; maintain schematics.
  • Provide production support for AMRs when necessary.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and operate Andon light systems and visual management equipment.
  • Develop SOPs for local site technicians.
  • Enhance operational efficiency by integrating automation initiatives.
  • Gather requirements to deliver scalable digital solutions; ensure user adoption.

The Fort Worth factory is currently undergoing a significant production ramp-up to meet growing demand and support new business opportunities. As part of this expansion, the team is seeking an up and coming Automation Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will support the development and maintenance of automation initiatives here at Siemens Fort Worth.

In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders such as the central automation team to help drive innovation in industrial automation and smart manufacturing. Your work will leverage modern technologies—including Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), SCADA, industrial protocols, and automation systems—to build secure, scalable solutions that support digital transformation and advance Industry 4.0 initiatives.

Your will make an impact by:
  • Understanding Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) and their integration points within the factory
  • Working with the central automation team to research, experiment, and implement new technologies in the factory
  • Understanding production equipment and their corresponding schematics
  • Maintaining schematics
  • Providing production support for AMRs when necessary
  • Supporting the installation, configuration, maintenance, and continuous operation of Andon light systems and related visual management equipment throughout the facility
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support departmental goals, operational excellence, and business objectives
  • Developing SOPs for local site technicians
  • Enhancing operational efficiency through successful integration of automation initiatives
  • Increasing stakeholder satisfaction through effective requirements gathering and solution delivery
  • Carrying out successful deployment and user adoption of secure, scalable digital solutions that meet business objectives
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or related field
  • 1 – 2 years’ experience in Automation, control devices, PLCs (TIA Portal, WinCC)
  • Knowledge of manufacturing operations and Industry 4.0 technologies
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understanding of industrial network communication protocols including Profinet, Modbus, and OPC UA
  • Excellent communication skills with experience preparing and presenting training
  • Some experience with dashboard development tools (Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms)
  • Basic knowledge of industrial systems (MES, SCADA, or ERP systems)
