Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Automation Engineer in East Brunswick, NJ to support and troubleshoot plant automation systems including PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, VFDs, and I/O networks. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field and hands-on experience in industrial environments.

Responsibilities include maintaining process control signals, industrial networks, and motion control systems. This on-site position offers comprehensive benefits and a path for growth in manufacturing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field required.
• Experience in PLC troubleshooting
• Experience in high-speed manufacturing, chemical processing, consumer products, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, fragrance, or similar industries preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support and troubleshoot plant automation systems.
• Work with PLCs, HMIs, servo systems and drives, VFDs, I/O systems, and process controls.
• Maintain and troubleshoot industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus).
• Assist with motion control systems and encoders.

Job Description

The Automation Engineer will primarily support and troubleshoot plant automation systems, including but not limited to:

• Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
• Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs)
• Servo systems and servo drives
• AC and DC variable frequency drives (VFDs)
• Digital and analog I/O systems
• Process control signals (4–20 mA, 0–10 V, discrete I/O)
• Industrial communication networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.)
• Motion control systems and encoders

Electronic Components Typically Supported Include

• Relays and relay logic
• Power supplies (AC/DC)
• Contactors and motor starters
• Sensors (photoelectric, proximity, pressure, temperature, flow, level)
• Timers, counters, and signal conditioners
• Terminal blocks, fuses, breakers, and protection devices
• Control transformers and interface modules

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field required.
• Experience in PLC troubleshooting
• Experience in high-speed manufacturing, chemical processing, consumer products, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, fragrance, or similar industries preferred.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $95000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
