Job summary

Viking Plastics is seeking a design-focused automation professional to create 3D CAD drawings and End of Arm tooling for parts handling robots and fixturing. You will work on a cross-functional automation team supporting manufacturing, taking projects from design to implementation.

You will manage CAD files, revise drawings, and document design parameters, BOMs, and calculations for future use. The role involves installation, maintenance, troubleshooting of automated systems, and collaboration

Qualifications

• Experience creating 3D CAD drawings from 2D sketches and designing End of Arm tooling.
• Ability to manage and organize CAD files and revisions.
• Experience installing, maintaining and troubleshooting automated production systems.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D drawings from sketches and revise drawings as needed.
• Design End of Arm tooling and spec purchased components.
• Maintain design docs, BOMs and parameters for future reference.
• Install, maintain and troubleshoot automated systems; provide operator training as needed.
• Collaborate with departments to ensure equipment meets production requests.

Job description

This position will be responsible for creating 3D drawings and designing End of Arm tooling for parts handling robots as well as fixturing and components for other automated processes. The individual in this position will also work as part of an automation team that supports all aspects of manufacturing. Individuals must be willing and able to take project from design to implementation.Include but are not limited to the following:

• Manage and organize CAD files
• Create 3D Drawings from 2D sketches in CAD software
• Revise established drawings as needed to reflect design changes
• Attend development meetings as requested
• Design End of Arm tooling
• Spec out purchased components
• Maintain notes, design calculations and other documentation (drawings, BOM, design parameters) for future reference
• Install, maintain and troubleshoot automated production systems
• Provide system operation training on assigned automation systems as needed
• Order supplies as directed by department
• Work with other departments to ensure all equipment is in condition to meet customer production requests
• Maintain work areas in professional manner
• Participate and lead in our Culture of Continuous Improvement
