Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an Automation Engineer to optimize equipment and assembly processes, boosting uptime and reducing cycle times. You will support new program launches, implement error-proofing, respond to downtime, and assist with equipment builds, PMs, and quality investigations.

You will also train staff, review new technologies, manage special projects, and support maintenance, engineering, and lean initiatives. Weekend work is occasionally required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Science/Technology or 5+ years in a related field.
• Strong background in manufacturing, automation, controls, and troubleshooting.
• Experience in PLC programming & troubleshooting (Allen Bradley preferred) and HMI software programming (FactoryTalk or Ignition preferred).

Responsibilities

Daily responsibilities include supporting new program launches, implementing error‑proofing systems, responding to downtime, and assisting with equipment builds, PM development, and quality investigations. The engineer helps train department personnel, reviews new technologies, manages special projects, and supports maintenance, engineering, and lean initiatives. Occasional weekend work is required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s in Engineering Science/Technology and/or 5+ years of experience within a related field.
• Strong background in manufacturing, automation, controls, and troubleshooting.
• Experience in PLC programming & troubleshooting (Allen Bradley preferred) and HMI software programming (Factory Talk or Ignition preferred).

Preferred:

• SQL and Python experience.
• Experience working with cobots.
• Familiarity with ultrasonic welding.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.
