Job summary

Flambeau Inc. is seeking an Automation Engineer to design, develop, and implement advanced automation for our manufacturing processes. You will work with robotics, fixtures, and CAD/CAM to improve production while training technicians and collaborating with engineers and partners.

The role focuses on innovation, continuous improvement, and staying current with new tooling and automation technologies. Occasional travel up to 20% is required, with a standard 40-hour week and additional hours as

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of robotics and Fanuc programming.
  • 2–4 years in plastics processing/manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Experience with fixture design/build and CAD/CAM.

Responsibilities

  • Program Fanuc robotics (manual and offline programming).
  • Train technicians on robotics fundamentals.
  • Manage projects: develop timelines, create flow charts, and coordinate team communication.
  • Research and develop new technologies to improve production.
  • Create CAD-generated fixture and end-of-arm tooling designs as required.
  • Create dimensional part drawings as needed.
  • Collaborate with Project Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and external partners.
  • Support costing for new automation equipment.
  • Travel to customer/vendor locations and other Flambeau facilities (up to 20%).
  • Stay current on new tooling, machinery, materials, and processing innovations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Do:
  • Program Fanuc robotics (manual and offline programming)
  • Train technicians on robotics fundamentals

  • Create CAD generated detailed fixture and end of arm tooling design models as required
  • Create dimensional part drawings as needed
  • Collaborate with Project Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and external partners
  • Support costing for new automation equipment
  • Travel to customer/vendor locations and other Flambeau facilities (up to 20%)
  • Stay current on new tooling, machinery, materials, and processing innovations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What You Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of robotics and programming (Fanuc preferred)
  • 2-4 years of plastics processing/manufacturing experience strongly preferred
  • Strong communication skills and teamwork ability
  • Experience with fixture design/build
  • Strong 3-D CAD/CAM skills (SDRC)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, and Ladder Logic
  • Willingness to learn and grow through ongoing training
Physical & Work Environment:
  • Primarily office-based with occasional production floor work
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally
  • Standard 40-hour workweek with additional hours as needed
