Job summary

Nevada Cement Company in Fernley, NV is seeking an automation technician to develop, monitor, and troubleshoot PLC logic and HMI controls on-site. You will install and test network infrastructure and process instrumentation, and maintain PLC program backups.

The role requires reading electrical schematics, working with Modicon EcoStruxure and GE iFix, and collaborating with engineering teams on project planning and QA/QC procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent but prefer a degree in the automation field with hands on experience with programmable logic controllers.
• Minimum of one year of PLC programming experience preferably with Modicon EcoStruxure.
• Must have previous HMI development preferably with GE iFix.
• Must be familiar with IP addressing and Modbus communication protocols.
• Ability to install, maintain & test various PLC hardware, temperature, pressure and level instruments.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
• Must have the ability to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines.
• Must have a strong knowledge of Microsoft products including Excel, Word and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Develop, monitor and troubleshoot PLC logic and HMI controls.
• Install, test, and troubleshoot network infrastructure, and process instrumentation.
• Maintain backups for all PLC programs, Historian archives, iFix database and pictures.
• Diagnose and repair PLC hardware, PCs, network, and security issues.
• Ensure that QA/QC procedures are adhered to in the development, testing and documentation of projects.
• Assist in the planning of projects including budgeting, materials and labor resources.
