Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Journeyperson Pipefitter to install, assemble, fabricate, maintain and repair mechanical piping systems across industrial equipment and automation. The role emphasizes safety, precision and hands-on work with conveyors, robots and CNC tooling.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical trade background with six+ years experience or a U.S. DOL certificate, and is willing to work flexible shifts including overtime. Sponsorship is not provided by GM.

Qualifications

Six or more years in a mechanical trade (millwright, pipefitter, toolmaker, machine repair) or a U.S. DOL certificate.
Must pass GM hiring process including assessments, drug test, and background check.
Must be at least 18 years old and eligible to work in the United States.
Flexible shifts including day/night, overtime, weekends with short notice; GM immigration sponsorship not provided.

Responsibilities

Follow OSHA and GM safety procedures.
Maintain, repair, and replace mechanical and hydraulic components on industrial machinery.
Layout, assemble, fabricate, and repair piping systems.
Use hand or power tools to measure, cut, thread, bend, solder, and install pipes and fittings.
Read and interpret blueprints for conveyor, material handling, robots, and automation.
Operate forklifts, cranes, and other mobile equipment.
Set up and run CNC tools to machine parts to specifications.
Plan sequences of operations for tools and assemblies using blueprints or models.
Verify finished dimensions with calipers, micrometers, and other instruments.
