Job summary

Aalis Management Consulting seeks an Automation Developer to support a federal agency’s IT Financial Management modernization, workflow automation, and data integration efforts in Washington, DC. The role focuses on designing and delivering automated solutions that reduce manual work and improve accuracy.

You will collaborate with financial analysts, program managers, and technical teams, using Microsoft Power Platform tools to automate key financial workflows, reporting, and compliance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/Engineering/Business Systems/Data Analytics or related field
  • At least 5 years of experience building automation solutions/workflow apps
  • Experience designing and implementing workflow automation solutions
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI)
  • Experience gathering requirements and translating them into technical solutions
  • Experience developing, testing, and implementing automated workflows
  • Experience troubleshooting workflow failures and supporting enterprise apps
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy automation solutions supporting federal financial management operations.
  • Analyze existing processes to identify automation opportunities for efficiency.
  • Develop automated workflows including approvals, data validation, reporting, reconciliations, notifications, and document management.
  • Create solutions using Microsoft Power Platform tools: Power Automate, Power Apps, and Power BI integration.
  • Automate manual financial processes and improve operational workflows.
  • Support integration between financial systems, enterprise apps, and reporting platforms.
  • Develop documentation: process flows, user guides, configuration docs, SOPs.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot automated solutions to maintain performance and reliability.
  • Participate in Agile development activities (sprint planning, testing, demos, releases).
  • Ensure automation aligns with security, compliance, and data governance requirements

Position Overview

Aalis Management Consulting is seeking an Automation Developer to support a federal agency's IT Financial Management modernization, workflow automation, process improvement, and financial systems integration initiatives.

The Automation Developer will design, develop, implement, and maintain automation solutions that improve financial operations, reduce manual processes, enhance data accuracy, and increase operational efficiency. This role will support the automation of financial workflows, reporting processes, data movement, approvals, and business operations across enterprise systems.

The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience developing automation solutions using Microsoft Power Platform, Power Automate, workflow automation tools, scripting, and enterprise applications. The candidate will work closely with financial analysts, program managers, system owners, and technical teams to identify automation opportunities and deliver scalable solutions.

This position requires a technical professional who can analyze business processes, design automated workflows, troubleshoot system issues, and translate federal financial requirements into practical technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy automation solutions supporting federal financial management operations.
  • Analyze existing business processes to identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and improved efficiency.
  • Develop automated workflows supporting:
    • Financial approvals

    • Audit trails

  • Translate business requirements into technical designs and automation solutions.
  • Perform testing, troubleshooting, and implementation support for automated processes.
  • Develop technical documentation, including:
    • Process flows
    • User guides
    • Configuration documentation
    • Standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Monitor automated solutions and resolve issues impacting performance or functionality.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to streamline federal financial operations.
  • Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, testing, demonstrations, and release management.
  • Ensure automation solutions align with federal security, compliance, and data governance requirements.
