Job summary

PERC-eng in Lafayette, LA is seeking an Instrumentation and Automation Designer to develop high-level and detailed designs for oil and gas facilities. You will work with control systems and electrical engineers, interpreting P&IDs and wiring diagrams, and deliver CAD-based designs for process facilities.

The role requires 4+ years in upstream/midstream engineering, proficiency in AutoCAD, and the ability to coordinate with multiple disciplines to meet deadlines and standards.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of design experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with NEC, API 500, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD or similar programs.

Responsibilities

  • Design instrumentation and automation for process facilities using AutoCAD.
  • Read and interpret P&IDs and other engineering documents.
  • Collaborate with control systems and electrical engineers.
  • Interface with other disciplines (structural, mechanical, instrumentation).
  • Maintain detailed logs of activities and report to project managers.

Job description

Essential Functions
  • Possess minimum 4 years' experience in Automation and I&E design.
  • Ability to read and interpret Electrical and Instrumentation interfaces with P&IDs and other engineering documents.
  • Ability to understand the basics of electrical design and interface with both control systems and electrical engineers.
  • Work both independently and alongside an engineering team to develop high-level and detailed designs of Instrumentation systems.
  • Ability to interface with other disciplines on a multi-disciplinary team (structural, mechanical, and/or instrumentation).
  • Report job activity and maintain detailed logs of work activities, reporting to project managers and executive management.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in work products and standards.
  • Ability to meet deadlines while working on multiple projects and clients, with supervision and some responsibility for planning and prioritizing tasks.
  • Maintain a high standard of work performance, ensuring all work is completed in accordance with company and client standards.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact directly with Lead Engineers and upper management.

This is a Lafayette, LA-based, full-time position for the engineering of oil and gas production facilities, pipelines, and related infrastructure. The duties of this role include the Instrumentation and Automation design of process facilities using AutoCAD. Candidate must be knowledgeable across common design/CAD applications and familiar with principles of control system design and instrument installation and wiring.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in project and detailed engineering of upstream and/or midstream-related facilities.
  • Associate degree in Computer-Aided Design, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of design experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of standard codes such as NEC, API 500, etc.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD or similar programs.
  • 3D modeling experience is a plus but not required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Travel is not regularly required for this position; however, some site visits and periodic travel may be necessary as project demands arise.
  • Must be Able to Work for any US Employer.
Education

Minimum Required: Associate's Degree in Computer-Aided Design, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
