Job summary

Plastic Executive Recruiters seeks a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer for an established manufacturer. The role focuses on developing new mechanical products and expanding automation offerings, including conveyors and linear motion components.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in mechanical design, experience with designing equipment for manufacturing or automation, and proficiency in SolidWorks. Relocation assistance is available; a strong collaboration with engineering and manufacturing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred.
• 4+ years of mechanical design engineering experience preferred.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
• Experience designing equipment for manufacturing or industrial automation applications.
• FEA and project leadership experience are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new mechanical products from concept through production.
• Engineer conveyor systems, linear motion products, and automation components.
• Select and size components including conveyors, pulleys, belts, actuators, servo motors, and motion control systems.
• Perform calculations related to speed ratios, load capacity, power transmission, and mechanical performance.
• Create detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and bills of material.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, sales, and product management to bring new products to market.
• Evaluate existing products and recommend design improvements for performance, manufacturability, and cost.
• Support product testing, validation, and technical documentation.
