Job summary
General Motors is seeking a Material Handling Automation Engineer to drive the deployment of next-generation automation across its manufacturing network. You will identify, design, and execute material handling automation solutions from concept through launch to improve safety and efficiency.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and plant partners, work with AMRs, AFTs, ASRS, and sequencing systems, and develop launch documentation to enable production readiness.
Qualifications
- 3+ years in automotive manufacturing or material flow/industrial engineering.
- Hands-on experience implementing or integrating AMRs, AFTs, or ASRS.
- Proficiency with labor analysis tools (GMOS) to quantify automation impact.
Responsibilities
- Lead deployment of material handling automation technologies from concept through launch.
- Identify and evaluate automation opportunities to reduce waste, labor, and variability in material flow.
- Develop and review layouts using simulation tools to optimize material paths and equipment utilization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and plant partners to implement automation.
- Support feasibility studies, ROI analyses, and launch documentation to enable production readiness.
