Job summary

Lifetime Products in Mascot, TN is seeking an Automation and Controls Technician (PLC, HMI, Robotics) to troubleshoot, maintain, and improve automation systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The role emphasizes fanuc robots, Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and preventive maintenance, with on-site and occasional on-call support. You will collaborate with engineering and production teams to maximize uptime and safety.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical training or equivalent hands-on experience in robotics, automation, controls, electrical technology, mechatronics, or related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in industrial automation, automated systems, or robotics maintenance.
• Working knowledge of electrical principles, motor controls, wiring, control panels, and safe troubleshooting in manufacturing environments.
• Experience with PLC programming, PLC troubleshooting, and HMI modification; familiarity with Beckhoff, B&R, and Allen-Bradley platforms.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with operations, engineering, and maintenance to keep automation systems and production equipment running safely and efficiently.
• Perform planned preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, calibration, and repairs on automation systems, robotics, sensors, and conveyors.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and controls issues in PLCs, HMIs, drives, and networks to minimize downtime and restore production.
• Support robot and automation cell start-up, commissioning, integration, and continuous improvement projects.
• Program and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems, with preference for Beckhoff and Allen-Bradley platforms.
• Maintain and repair Fanuc robots and robotic tooling used in manufacturing.
• Read schematics, ladder diagrams, and control documentation to identify root causes and apply accurate repairs.
• Work in industrial networks to facilitate communication between robots, PLCs, HMIs, and equipment.
• Provide on-site and phone-based emergency support, including occasional 24/7 on-call and travel.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement to enhance uptime and product quality.
