Job summary

Auria is seeking an Automation Controls Technician for our Spartanburg Plant in Spartanburg, SC. You will troubleshoot robotics and maintain PLC logic to optimize automated cycle times in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.

Ideal candidates bring 5–7 years of related experience, an associate degree or higher, and strong skills in robotics, PLCs, electrical systems, and CMMS/ERP documentation. This on-site role offers competitive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or technical certification for required field.
• Strong understanding of robotics, PLCs, and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and perform minor programming on industrial robots.
• Modify PLC logic to optimize automated cycle times.
• Service pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics, and water jets.
• Calibrate sensors and vision systems for quality inspection.
• Respond to emergencies to minimize production downtime.
• Diagnose electrical/mechanical failures using schematics and diagnostic tools.
• Perform preventive maintenance to reduce unexpected downtime.
• Maintain control systems up to 480V and PLCs.
• Repair gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, and bearings; light welding.
• Follow lockout/tagout and OSHA/EPA safety rules.
• Document tasks and equipment status in CMMS/ERP (Plex).

We are currently searching for Automation Controls Technician to join our team at our Spartanburg Plant in Spartanburg, SC.

What you will do:

• Robotics & Automation: Troubleshoot and minor programming on industrial robots (e.g., FANUC, ABB, YASKAWA) for water jets, foam fill, or material handling
• PLC Programming: Modify and debug Programmable Logic Controller logic (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) to optimize automated cycle times.
• Precision Mechanical Repair: Service/Troubleshoot pumps, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, and water jet systems.
• Sensors & Vision Systems: Calibrate proximity sensors, photoelectric eyes, limit switches, and camera-based quality inspection systems.
• Rapid Breakdown Response: Execute emergency repairs under intense time constraints to maintain tight Just-In-Time (JIT) production schedules.
• Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Diagnose mechanical and electrical breakdowns, read schematics, and use diagnostic tools (e.g., multimeters) to identify root causes.
• Preventive & Predictive Maintenance (PM): Conduct routine inspections, lubrication, and part replacements to prevent equipment failure before it occurs
• Electrical Work: Maintain, repair, and calibrate control systems, up to 480V systems, motors, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
• Mechanical Work: Repair or rebuild gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, and bearings, and perform light welding, machining, and pipefitting as needed
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to strict lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, ARC flash safety, and all OSHA or EPA regulations
• Documentation: Log completed tasks, part usage, and equipment status using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or an ERP program like “Plex”

Preferred Education and Experience

• An Associate's degree or certification in Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or Electrical Engineering is preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift over 50 lbs., stand for long periods, and frequently kneel, crouch, or climb in varying facility temperatures.
• Availability to work rotating shifts
• Must be able to fully comply with all applicable safety requirements and policies

Preferred Automotive Qualifications

• Experience: 3+ years in a Tier 1 automotive supplier or OEM vehicle assembly plant.
• Specialized Training: Certifications in robotics, advanced PLC troubleshooting, or Mechatronics.
