Job summary

SpaceX is seeking an Automation & Controls Specialist for our tool & die shop in Texas to design, build, commission, and improve automation assets that drive quality, throughput, and cost targets.

You will integrate electromechanical systems, build control panels to NFPA 79 and UL 508A, program PLC/HMI software, and support maintenance while complying with ITAR and safety standards; 2nd shift hours apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency + 2+ years in manufacturing/production, OR bachelor's in engineering/math/science.
• 2+ years of hands-on automation/controls experience in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Integrate, commission, and troubleshoot electromechanical automation systems with engineering collaboration.
• Develop and build new automation solutions; improve existing assets to meet production needs.
• Read and use system-level schematics (electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic).
• Design, build, and wire industrial control panels to NFPA 79 and UL 508A standards.
• Design, implement, and commission PLC and HMI software using ladder logic and structured text.
• Specify and procure components, sensors, actuators, and hardware for control systems.
• Implement corrective actions and robust preventive maintenance processes.
• Develop and maintain automation standards to improve consistency, reliability, uptime, and safety.
• Maintain production areas following 5S, safety, tidiness, and inventory control.
