Job description

Automation Controls & Mechatronics EngineerStep into a role where software meets steel. At Dynamic Manufacturing, Inc., you’ll blend controls engineering, robotics, and instrumentation to power our automotive remanufacturing operations. Your work will touch disassembly, assembly, and test systems—spanning motion control, electro‑hydraulic and electro‑pneumatic equipment, custom testers, multi‑panel stations, collaborative and industrial robots, and full‑scale automation initiatives.A Day in the LifeStart your morning refining level‑of‑effort models for an upcoming product launch. By mid‑day, you’re on the floor tuning a VFD, validating a three‑phase motor control loop, and integrating a safety relay. After lunch, you pair up with a Manufacturing Engineer to debug a PLC ladder routine, bring a Cognex vision inspection online, and verify a DAQ channel for torque and pressure transducers. You wrap by mentoring an Associate Engineer, updating preventive maintenance standards, and preparing for a quick customer site visit tomorrow. What You’ll DoOwn or contribute to cost and level‑of‑effort estimates for new product lines, variants within existing product families, and project proposals.Support and help coordinate launches for new lines; manage multiple, cross‑functional projects simultaneously.Partner with Product, Manufacturing, Quality, and Mechanical Design Engineers—as well as Maintenance and Calibration Technicians—to deliver production‑ready solutions.Design, implement, and sustain industrial and test systems, including:Advanced testers: air‑decay, displacement measurement, pick‑to‑light boards, NVH testers, and multi‑panel configurations.Component testers for 2‑pin/3‑pin Hall‑effect sensors, bearings, and chains.Hi‑Pot tester interfaces (hardware/software) with data capture and visualization.Vision Inspection Systems and barcode solutions.Electrical controls for pneumatic and hydraulic presses, plus electro‑hydraulic/pneumatic control and test rigs.Engineer control architectures: motion/motor control, PLC/HMI selection and programming, safety circuits, three‑phase motor and VFD control.Create and maintain standards for electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic designs, as well as preventive/predictive maintenance documentation.Develop electrical panel layouts; produce and revise drawings and project documentation.Guide less‑experienced Engineers; provide recommendations on repairs, redesigns, and rebuilds based on equipment condition.Visit customer facilities as needed to collaborate and troubleshoot. What You BringBS or higher in a relevant field (or equivalent hands‑on experience).Hands‑on expertise with data acquisition and control platforms: NI hardware, Measurement Computing, PLCs (AutomationDirect, Allen‑Bradley, Omron, and others), Arduino, Raspberry Pi.Proven background architecting robotic and automated cells: layout, safeguarding, end‑of‑arm tooling, robot selection/programming.Experience designing/building industrial machines and custom test equipment.Proficiency creating electrical schematics (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Visio) and mechanical drawings (Inventor), plus pneumatic/hydraulic diagrams.Strong foundation in hydraulic and pneumatic principles, component selection, and operation.PLC and HMI programming (Ladder Logic or comparable languages) and LabVIEW integration.Sensor know‑how for selection, implementation, and maintenance; familiarity with signal conditioners (e.g., Dataforth, Analog Devices).Wiring best practices: shielding, grounding, and noise mitigation; PCB design exposure.Ability to build intuitive PC‑based GUIs/HMIs; store data to Microsoft Access and SQL databases.Vision expertise with Cognex systems and barcode scanners; experience with Keyence and Banner solutions.DC and three‑phase motor sizing/control; VFD selection, wiring, control, and programming.Relay‑based control and safety relays/circuits; industrial communications such as Ethernet and Modbus.Maintenance mindset for electrical, mechanical, and industrial equipment; electrical panel layout and build.Analog measurement (pressure, torque); ability to infer machine operation with limited documentation.Clear communication, Lean/continuous improvement orientation, strong project management, technical writing, documentation, and troubleshooting skills.ProficienciesPLC troubleshooting and programmingReading and producing electrical schematicsMachine vision programmingPneumatics diagnosticsTools & Technologies You’ll UseVariable Frequency Drives (VFDs)Programmable Logic Controllers (e.g., Siemens)Vision SystemsHMIsWhy Dynamic ManufacturingFounded in 1955 by John Partipilo, we’re a family‑owned company dedicated to world‑class automotive, off‑road, industrial, and racing powertrain products—from torque converters to automatic, manual, and hybrid transmissions, as well as transfer case assemblies.
