Barry-Wehmiller Design Group is seeking a seasoned Controls Engineer to join our US team. You will work with a diverse group of industry experts, delivering high‑quality automation solutions for leading manufacturing clients.

This role emphasizes design, testing, commissioning, and startup of automated systems, including PLC/SCADA programming, control panel design, and field deployment across projects that may require travel.

Qualifications

• Direct experience as a controls engineer in automated manufacturing environments.
• Experience designing automation controls (PLC/SCADA) and control panels (UL508A).
• Strong communication and documentation skills; willing to travel for projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop automation solutions across design, software configuration, testing, and commissioning.
• Design control systems and create project documentation and drawings.
• Diagnose automation problems and interface with clients, teams, and vendors.
• Program PLCs (Rockwell/Siemens) and HMI/SCADA systems; manage projects and milestones.
• Coordinate site startup and turnover of systems to customers.
