Job summary

Dennis Group in Duluth, GA is seeking an Automation & Controls Engineer to design, troubleshoot, and Commission control systems for food & beverage facilities. You’ll work with process, packaging, and building engineers on startup, qualification, and site commissioning.

This client‑facing role requires 35–50% travel, onsite work, and strong experience with AB/Rockwell, Siemens, GE Fanuc, Honeywell hardware, PLCs, and network infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 4–7 years with Allen Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, GE Fanuc, Honeywell Systems.
• 4–7 years in Visual Basic, SQL, MS Access programming.
• 4–7 years designing process network infrastructure (Ethernet, Device Net, ProfiBus, etc.).
• 4–7 years in an industrial manufacturing setting.
• Proficiency with MS Office and AutoCAD.
• This role is client facing with strong communication and inter-personal skills; travel 35–50% of the year.

Responsibilities

• Design and troubleshoot control systems using PLCs for integration of manufacturing systems.
• Automate manufacturing processes through instrumentation or controls systems.
• Design, diagnose, and troubleshoot network infrastructures (Ethernet, DeviceNet, ProfiBus, etc.).
• Develop new PLC applications, interfaces, or embedded controls.
• Set up commissioning of new facilities or upgrading existing facilities.
• Specify, procure, and wire control panel equipment and electrical equipment.
• Coordinate with other engineer disciplines and contractors during construction.
• Document specifications, operating procedures, and bid documentation.
