Broan-NuTone LLC’s Hartford internship offers hands-on exposure to automation engineering, supporting day-to-day activities and project work within a professional environment.

As an Electrical/Mechanical Engineering intern, you will engage with wiring, safety controls, robotics, vision systems, and PLC programming while collaborating with Operations teams to drive real improvements. This paid, onsite internship emphasizes learning and professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical), junior status.
  • Experience with electrical wiring and/or mechanical assembly.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective English communication.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in engineering work applying standard automation techniques.
  • Coordinate with Operations teams to plan projects.
  • Support automation development including wiring, controls, robotics, and vision systems.
  • Maintain project status and document progress.
  • Learn internal systems and processes; prepare materials as needed.

This role is designed for a student or early-career professional who is eager to learn, contribute to meaningful work, and develop practical skills related to their field of study or career interests.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform engineering-related work requiring the application of educational study and standard techniques and procedures in industrial automation.Supervised assignments & projects have clear & specified objectives.Coordinate with the representatives of Operations teams and Segment to plan and complete projects as assigned.Provide support for automation development which may include wiring and construction of equipment, applications of safety controls and design, electrical design, robotics, vision systems, programming of logic controllers.Maintain and communicate an accurate accounting of project status.Learn and use internal systems, tools, and processes relevant to the role.Prepare materials, presentations, summaries, or documentation as needed.Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail in all work.QualificationsCurrently pursuing a degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical preferred), and of at least Junior status.Previous experience with electrical wiring and/or mechanical assembly.Must possess effective analytical, numerical, problem solving, and reasoning abilities. Ability to interpret data and make recommendations for improvement.Effective verbal and written communicationsSpeak and write English effectively to convey information.Proficient in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPointCollaborative approach to partner with teammates, suppliers, and customers (both internal and external) successfully, working closely with others in a team environment.
