Job Summary

The Automation and Controls Engineer III will focus on electrical projects involving controls, data acquisition, power distribution, wiring, and related issues. Responsibilities include troubleshooting control, instrument, and electrical problems affecting manufacturing processes. The individual will also assist and train maintenance, production, or other technicians in technical and troubleshooting matters. The candidate should be skilled in designing, installing, and maintaining PLC-based controls in an industrial continuous process environment.

Essential Duties

1. Manage design and installation of electrical/electronic equipment including power distribution, PLCs, instrumentation, and drives.
2. Perform work requiring knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories, including writing specifications and adhering to electrical codes.
3. Collaborate with maintenance planning and engineering to develop preventative maintenance systems.
4. Conduct design calculations and prepare specifications for electrical and electronic PLC systems.
5. Investigate electrical or electronic issues in production operations and take corrective actions.
6. Assist and train technicians with technical and troubleshooting matters.
7. Contribute to capital projects, developing scope and funding requests.
8. Supervise outside contractors and maintenance staff during project installations.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
• 7 years of experience in an industrial continuous process environment
• Proficiency with Rockwell Automation software and Allen Bradley drives
• Deep understanding of electrical theory and devices
• Knowledge of instrumentation calibration (pressure, temperature, flow)
• HMI development skills (FTView/Wonderware)
• Experience with network and server maintenance
• Leadership in controls projects
• Ability to troubleshoot process issues using analytical tools
• Understanding of web handling systems
• Willingness to share knowledge and collaborate
• Effective communication skills
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

Preferred Skills

• Proficiency with Allen-Bradley Kinetix servo drives and DC drives
