Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC seeks an Automation & Controls Engineer for Raptor Manufacturing Systems. You will design, wire, and commission safety logic and motion-controlled systems for 3D additive printers, enabling high-volume production to reach ambitious space exploration goals.

Responsibilities include PLC programming, HMI development, and adherence to ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA safety standards, with opportunities for training technicians and engineers and advancing manufacturing capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or STEM discipline.
  • 1+ years of experience in industrial or factory automation design and commissioning.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, autonomously driven, and demanding atmosphere.
  • Ability to work long hours and weekends as necessary to support critical milestones.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and manage automation projects including initial design ideation, machine commissioning and proof of rate capability, and hand-off to operations.
  • Develop training programs for technicians and engineers.
  • Architect, write, and debug PLC code with an emphasis on maintainable, reusable code for high-volume manufacturing.
  • Implement ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA compliant safety systems to keep the factory safe.
  • Generate simple, intuitive HMI screens to simplify complex machines.
  • Design electrical systems compliant with NEC, NFPA, & UL508A regulations.
  • Troubleshoot, root cause, and repair electronics and electrical components on a tight production schedule.
  • Create schedules and budgets and motivate the team to achieve them.
