Job summary

SpaceX in Hawthorne, CA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Raptor 3D printer team. You will design printer hardware, train technicians, and develop production plans while collaborating with design and supply chain engineering on rapid ramp of the Raptor program.

This hands-on role on the production floor emphasizes GD&T interpretation, cross-functional communication, and ownership of custom equipment development for high-speed manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or STEM required.
• 1+ years of design or commissioning experience in mechanical projects.
• Experience with CAD and FEA software packages.

Responsibilities

• Solve complex problems with speed and efficiency on the Raptor printer program.
• Refine production system to achieve high-rate, high-yield processes.
• Develop training programs for engineers and technicians on laser tracking equipment and software.
• Interpret blueprints using GD&T to verify assemblies at all levels.
• Communicate with fabricators, machinists, and engineers to ensure alignment.
• Own design and implementation of custom production equipment for the Raptor printer.
• Balance multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
