Job summary

GCP is seeking a Controls & Automation Engineer to lead NA site automation initiatives, upgrading PLC/SCADA systems, and delivering capital projects. You will collaborate across operations, IT, and maintenance to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.

The role covers design, commissioning, and ongoing optimization of end-to-end automation, with a focus on data visibility, MES/ERP integration, and plant-wide performance metrics. Willingness to travel up to 50% is expected.

Qualifications

• BS degree in electrical engineering with manufacturing experience preferred.
• Minimum four (4) years in a manufacturing setting with automation focus.
• Strong knowledge of PLCs, SCADA/HMI, instrumentation, and electrical fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Lead automation, PLC, SCADA, HMI, and controls initiatives across NA sites.
• Design and maintain industrial automation and control systems for performance and reliability.
• Drive safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency through capital and CI projects.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, EHS, IT for cross-functional improvements.
• Develop system architectures integrating shop-floor controls with MES/ERP and reporting tools.
• Support commissioning, troubleshooting, startup activities, and RCA for equipment issues.
• Create dashboards and visualization tools to enhance operator decision-making.
• Monitor utilities usage and support energy and resource optimization.
• Ensure OSHA compliance and adherence to company standards and regulations.
• Manage automation vendors/contractors to ensure project success.
• Promote continuous improvement and a culture of safety and excellence.
